This career technical education program is unique in that it houses middle school children to prepare and gain interest for similar high school pathways. The project includes six large vocational labs/maker spaces, one vocational shop, a 144-seat lecture hall, a large display room to feature student projects, a student break area, and an administration area. The contrasting design of the building helps to highlight the innovation that happens inside. Natural light pours into the main areas through clerestories and large expanses of glass. All of the main circulation areas can be used for small group collaboration facilitated by soft seating areas.

Being the first middle school for Visalia Unified in over twenty years we were out to create a new identity for them. We took a modern approach and created a two story academic tower that was connected to a two story administration building. For the multi-purpose we went with a "food court" feel elevating the foodservice offerings to a high school level.
